MCS has launched a four-week consultation on a new MCS Standard to include an air to air heat pump system performance estimate standard and calculator tool. The focus of this consultation is the inclusion of air-to-air heat pumps, an important development in response to growing government interest in broadening the scope of low-carbon heating technologies.

As part of this initiative, MCS has developed the ‘Air to Air Heat Pump Pre-sale information and Performance Calculation’ Standard tailored specifically for air-to-air heat pump systems. Presented in a narrative format, this sets out the methodology and formulae used to provide estimate performance figures.

To support this, MCS has also released an updated Excel-based calculator tool. This tool enables installers to carry out compliant performance estimates efficiently, providing the ability to estimate performance for air-to-air heat pump installations.

HAVE YOUR SAY

MCS now invites comments and feedback from stakeholders on the proposed updates. Please review the draft air-to-air heat pump system performance estimate standard and calculator tool. Submit your response to consultations@mcscertified.com before the consultation closes at 5.00pm on 6 August 2025.
