About MCS Standards

What are MCS Standards?

MCS product and installation standards define how small-scale renewable technologies, such as solar PV and heat pumps, are tested, designed and installed. They ensure that renewable technologies are efficient, as safe as possible and installed to the highest possible quality, giving everyone confidence in home-grown energy.

Who defines MCS Standards?

MCS Standards are defined and maintained by our Technical Working Groups. We use a wide range of expertise and insight from across the industry, from contractors, installers, manufacturers, trade associations and certification bodies, to consumer groups, educators, and independent specialists. This ensures that our standards are created and maintained by industry, for industry.
