The Solar Thermal Installation Standard v5.0 has been updated and will be replaced with The Solar Heating Installation Standard v5.1.
The MCS Solar Heating Technical Working Group have updated MIS 3001 to enact a change to the terminology used when referring to this type of technology.
The Standard no longer uses the term ‘Solar Thermal’ and all references have been updated to ‘Solar Heating’.
This change has not affected any of the technical requirements within the Standard.
Compliance with this issue becomes mandatory for MCS Contractors certified in accordance with MIS 3001 from 17 October 2025.
